This is NEW (for Nisqually Radio) for 2010, and many of you may not encountered 3D virtual worlds on the web yet.
You should see our 3D gallery load above on this page. If you don't see the gallery, it just means that your browser doesn't have a 3D plug-in, ...something easily fixed right now. Here is a link to my favorite 3D viewer plug-in where you can click to install the free Cortona plug-in for your browser. (You won't be adding on a tool bar or anything, it just let's you view 3D.)
Not sure? Here is a more complete link to a (Uncle Sam to the rescue!) website to help you determine what you have and where you can get others. It just tells you (and shows you) plainly which 3D plug-in's you have installed and gives you links to install the others. (Look for the word 'plug-in', or you might download a stand-alone viewer, ...which is OK too but is not a plug-in.)
Nisqually Radio's 3D is written in VRML-2 (also called VRML97) but you may also want the plug-in for X3D, another 3D format used on the web.
If you haven't navigated in 3D before, here are a few tips:
Start by moving the mouse onto the scene and then press down the left mouse button, hold it down and drag it forward, backwards, left and right. Notice also that there are buttons to your right which selects how you move (walk, fly etc.) and which way (move, turn, rotate...) Give yourself some time and practice moving around, and don't worry, you won't hurt anything if you crash into stuff, in fact you might go right through things.)
Right click anywhere on the scene and you will find the way to set all the properties such as how fast you can move or if the headlight is on or off and more.) Setting your speed to medium and turning the headlight on might help.
The objects in the gallery are often clickable. In this way, paintings may be linked directly to a PayPal or Google shopping cart or the artists home page. (Look for an anchor sign as the curser.)
As you may have noticed, there are antique hippie posters from StarBirdSales.com in our gallery. We are replacing these one at a time ...as we decide what to replace them with. If you are a local artist interested in having one of your works displayed here, please contact us.
On a larger scale, our gallery is part of a larger plaza of 12 galleries. (Note the Rhoomba keeping the floor clean or click on the handles of the chess table drawers to open or close them.)
If you are a commercial venture and would like to have your product represented in 3D or included in our world contact us now and describe your concept.
Expect big changes soon. This is still a bare bones scene and we plan to plant some herbs, maybe add an aquarium, add display cases and make all kinds of changes and additions to complete this scene. We also plan to add (directional disstance sensitve) audio, and movies. Drop us a line if you have a suggestion and come back to visit again and again.
